Can Colloidal Silver Help Shingles? Experts say YES!

Does colloidal silver work for shingles outbreak and shingles neuralgia – i.e., the excruciating nerve pain that often goes along with a shingles outbreak?

While there have been no clinical studies on this subject, the anecdotal evidence is compelling. Here’s how colloidal silver users have beaten shingles and got back to enjoying life again…

Most people know that “shingles,” also known as herpes zoster virus outbreak, can cause a painful, blistering skin rash that can last two to four weeks, or even longer.

Pain from shingles can be excruciating, oftentimes described as deep burning or “stabbing” pain in conjunction with uncontrollable itching and deep, debilitating aches. Needless to say, an outbreak of shingles can really impact a person’s ability to enjoy life, even making the simplest of tasks extremely painful.

Some victims might also develop severe nerve pain that can last for months, or even for years after the rash goes away. This is called post-herpetic neuralgia, and it’s the most common complication of shingles.

Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus – the same virus that causes chickenpox. Apparently, if you’ve ever had chickenpox, this virus resides inside you for life, normally in a dormant state.

But experts say it can “reactivate” years later, particularly during times of physical or mental stress, and when immunity is low. This is why it so often afflicts the aged. Only, instead of causing chickenpox, it causes the painful “shingles” outbreaks.

Experts say that’s because the shingles virus prefers to live in the nerve cells of the human body, and when reactivated it inflames those cells resulting in feelings of painful burning.

Is Colloidal Silver Really Effective Against Shingles?

According to the book Prescriptions for Natural Healing by Phyllis A. Balch and her husband Dr. James F. Balch, M.D., colloidal silver is indeed effective for treating shingles. Here’s from page 622 of the 3rd edition of their book, listing shingles as a condition that can be treated effectively with colloidal silver:

Shingles (Herpes Zoster) – “A natural antibiotic that has shown effectiveness in treating shingles. Can be taken internally and used topically.” (p. 622)

And according to a very old issue of the British Medical Journal (December 15, 1917), researcher J. Mark Hovell wrote:

“Colloidal silver has also been used successfully in septic conditions of the mouth (including pyorrhea alveolysis – Rigg’s disease), throat (including tonsillitis and quincies), ear (including Menier’s symptoms and closure to Valsalva’s inflation), and in generalized septicemia, leucorrhea, cystitis, whooping cough and shingles.”

But why is colloidal silver so effective against shingles?

It’s because colloidal silver has been proven time-after-time to work against viruses like herpes zoster plus many pathogenic fungi, parasites, and bacteria (even drug-resistant bacteria).

As Dr. Wright wrote in an article titled Singing Silver’s Praises:

“I’ve worked with colloidal silver since its ‘revival’ in the 1980s and have found it to be very effective at fighting infections of all types – bacterial, viral, and fungal. In fact, its effects are so strong that I believe silver could be the key to fighting the antibiotic-resistant ‘superbugs’ that have become such a problem in recent years.”

Dr. Wright stated, in another article:

“Colloidal silver isn’t just an alternative for antibiotics – it actually offers even more protection. Antibiotics only work against bacteria. But colloidal silver has been found to be “germicidal” against a wide variety of viruses, bacteria, and fungi.”

Let’s take a look at what the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine has to say in their Physician & Practitioner Administered Procedures and Therapies guide:

“Often called the ‘penicillin of alternative medicine,’ colloidal silver disables the enzymes that bacteria, parasites, viruses, and fungi rely on to use oxygen. Unable to ‘breathe,’ the organisms die and are eliminated from the body.

While an antibiotic drug may kill several types of disease organisms, colloidal silver delivers the kiss of death to at least 650 disease organisms. In addition, colloidal silver can be taken over long periods of time because microorganisms cannot develop a resistance to it.

…Among the conditions colloidal silver has controlled are severe burns, acne, boils, candida and yeast infections, chronic fatigue syndrome, digestive problems and colitis, ear and sinus infections, herpes, shingles, lupus, malaria, viral and fungal infections, blood parasites, rheumatoid arthritis, and ringworm.

Colloidal silver also has been effective in treating cancer and AIDS if used at a certain point in the disease cycle when infected cells have reverted to a more primitive way of using oxygen, however, these uses of colloidal silver are not clinically proven.”

As you can see, the experts agree: Unlike prescription antibiotic drugs, colloidal silver is antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic.
